Welcome!
Hello, Sekoia, and welcome to the Paragon Wiki! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Feel free to fill out your personal user page so we can get to know you. There is a collection of Userboxes you can easily add there. Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date.
If you need help, ask me on my talk page or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Don't forget to drop by and introduce yourself in the Forum, which will use the same name/password that you used when you signed up with the wiki. If you ever feel the need to change your password, you will need to do so there instead of here in the wiki. And there's even a RSS Feed, if you're into that.
Also, make sure you take a look at the Help page. There is a lot of preloaded images, missions, and contact info, and what you want to add might already be there.
Again, welcome!
Gladiator Badges
Check here - Gladiator Badges - Snorii 06:27, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- Oops... my search-fu was weak. :( I made the page a redirect. Thanks! - Sekoia 06:30, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- I think we just made one page for gladiator badges since they are pretty much the same for both sides. It might be best to make them into two pages, but I just wanted to give you a heads up on what was already here. - Snorii 06:33, 25 January 2007 (PST)
"A while" versus "awhile"
Noticed a few of your recent edits, and ... "awhile" is actually a (semi-)legitimate word, per Merriam-Webster; it's not always an incorrect usage. Just an FYI --PaxArcana 07:23, 24 February 2007 (PST)
- Grar. I hate it when people publish incorrect information. *sigh* Thanks for the heads-up. I'll try to find a better list of common misspellings before doing any more corrections. -- Sekoia 07:28, 24 February 2007 (PST)
- Don't knock yourself, it is still often an incorrect usage - see the link I provided. As the object of a preposition, it's probably better to let it stand pending checking how it's used in-game. Otherwise, it is probably best to change it. --PaxArcana 07:34, 24 February 2007 (PST)
Table Conversions
Thanks for the welcome! I'm definitely more comfortable with the HTML table format, so as long as it's not a pain for you to run the bot, I'd prefer to keep using it. :) Atiaxi 18:43, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
Badge Template
Didn't you have a template for putting a badge entry on a page? E.g. for putting a defeat-villains badge on a villain group's page, so it fetched everything from the badge page? --Lin Chiao Feng 20:35, 29 June 2007 (EDT)
- Yep! {{BadgeBox}} You can use it either with manually specified parameters, or let it work automatically. Not all pages are set up for it to work, though. If the image doesn't work, replace the badge's image on the article page with {{Image|File.jpg}} (assuming it was [[Image:File.jpg]]). I eventually plan to get all the badges compatible with it, but haven't yet.
- Example that doesn't have things set up properly yet:
Apex Apex tracked Dr. Vahzilok down to this location, but interference from the Circle of Thorns prevented him from capturing the mad scientist. |
- Example that does have things set up:
Lorekeeper You have learned much that is hidden from the eyes of mortal men. |
- I tried to document {{BadgeBox}} pretty well, too. Hope that helps! -- Sekoia 01:18, 30 June 2007 (EDT)
Regarding Template:Common Badges Accuracy, I didn't have a link to Invention: Accuracy since that's the page this template is used on, so it's a self-referencing link. --Lin Chiao Feng 16:00, 30 June 2007 (EDT)
- I figured the same template would get used for ToHit pages, since it's the same content. It doesn't actually self-reference, because when you have a self-ref link, it doesn't turn into a link. It just gets bolded. -- Sekoia 18:38, 30 June 2007 (EDT)
- Huh, didn't know that. Then I'll rename it to Common Badges Accuracy/To Hit. --Lin Chiao Feng 19:34, 30 June 2007 (EDT)
SalvageList DPL
The docs say that "noresultsheader=" should suppress the warning message, but it doesn't. I'm wondering if this is a bug in the template form of DPL, but I have no way to test it. Right now, I have there, but I'm thinking that maybe <!-- --> might work better. I consider it a minor bug, since it doesn't really mess up the page. --Lin Chiao Feng 08:09, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
- I haven't tested it yet, but I'm wondering if it works under <DPL> but not {{#dpl:}}. I know there's one or two other thing that vary between the two formats. Of course, we have no choice but to use the template parser version within a template, so it doesn't really matter. And yup, it's not a big deal... was just trying to do some minor visual tweaking. :) -- Sekoia 12:26, 4 July 2007 (EDT)
DPL... For dummies?
I am on a mission to improve my wiki-fu. Can you point me in a few directions to get info on DPL? I'm going to try my hand at another wiki, and want to try to be the best I can be - i.e. like you! Thanks in advance -- Kalon 21:59, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
- Oh how I wish there were a "DPL for Dummies", hehe. Check out their website: [1] That's where I go whenever I want to figure out what does what. It took me a while to pick up the basic concepts from it, but the information is there if you work at it. It's more of a reference than a tutorial though. However, it's pretty much the only resource that I know of. My advice would be to make yourself a Sandbox (User:Kalon/Sandbox, or possibly even hop over to the test wiki) and play around with it a lot, that's pretty much what I did -- played around and kept looking through their manual until I got it. Also take a look at some of the DPL in use here on the wiki. Some stuff is pretty straightforward with it, but advanced stuff can really make your head spin. If you run into any specific questions or problems let me know and I'll try to give you a hand. Or if you find some DPL code that you don't understand, I can try to explain what it's doing for you. Hope that helps! :) -- Sekoia 02:13, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks, Sekoia! I will look in to the site - seems to be pretty comprehensive! Out of interest, i presume that there is a server-side installation? The Downloads section implies that, and as I am not an administrator of the site I am looking to DPL'ise, I may have to hold someones hand through the installation... -- Kalon 18:55, 16 August 2007 (EDT)
- Yep, DPL is an extension to Mediawiki that has to be installed server-side. It is not installed by default. You can see if it's installed on a server by visiting the page Special:Version. You'll notice on Paragon Wiki, there's an entry under "Parser hooks" for DynamicPageList2. If they have an old release, it's important to know that it may not function the same as what you read in their manual -- they often add (or change) features from version to version. So if something doesn't work right, that could likely well be why. (I ran into that a few times in the past, before Tony upgraded.) -- Sekoia 20:54, 16 August 2007 (EDT)

Recent Changes Consolidation
Thanks! You roxor my bo . . . no, not gonna do it. Anyway, good to know. :) - Sapph 11:59, 17 Au... Actually, while I've got your attention, can you take a look at my RFC in Community Portal talk? Thanks. - Sapph 11:59, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
DPL Sections
I had a long, involved piece of text here, but I've since made a template. Basically, you can use HTML comments to make sections invisible yet still use them with DPL.
<!-- == Section1 == Content == Section2 == Stuff <!-- -->
With that, you can do stuff like this:
{{PowerProp | Set = Speed | Power = Super Speed | Prop = Icon}}
--GuyPerfect 20:33, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- That is very slick! I wonder if it's a feature, or a beneficial bug. Either way, it opens up a lot of possibilities. I noticed that you opened an HTML comment tag before each section, even when there were several in a row, and then closed all adjacent sections with a single HTML comment closing tag. How come the extra open tags? -- Sekoia 21:34, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- There was a --> being tacked onto whatever printed out with the last section in the list, so the additional <!-- makes sure that doesn't happen. Check out Template:PowerProp for some info on what I've done. --GuyPerfect 21:52, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
- Ah, yes. I see what you were asking. I put the <-- after the partial image tags because it makes the interperater terminate the image tag in the appropriate place. So my template is basically using two exploits in one. If either of them gets fixed, it will fail to work properly. --GuyPerfect 21:58, 2 November 2007 (EDT)
DB error
Hi, thanks for reporting the problem (and sorry for not getting back to you until now :P).
This appears to be a temporary glitch. We've looked at the DB and everything seems OK.
But please let me know if you see this again.
Thanks, TOR<staff /> 14:17, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Altaholic userbox that you have.
Sekoia, I've included your altaholics/all code on my userpage; hopefully you don't mind. I'd like to include it as a second altaholics/all badge on the userbox template page if you don't mind. I just find yours to be much cleaner. Thanks.
--Torin23 02:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Torin, and thanks! I don't mind at all. Everything I do here can be freely copied. :) If you'd like to include it on the userbox template page, feel free. Cheers! -- Sekoia 04:10, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
VEATS in the Players' Guide
I added the VEATs to Creating a Character while overhauling the article early this evening. Just noticed it was in your To Do list, so I thought I'd let you know. --Eabrace 05:06, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
- Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. The new revisions look good, too. :D -- Sekoia 06:06, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Eek!
Sorry about the misplaced message to Sleepykitty about the Fan wiki, Sekoia -- I must have hit the wrong "Talk" link from Recent changes....I'll delete it here and move it where it belongs. :) Please keep up the good work! — Catherine<staff/> (talk) 11:07, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- No problem! :D I dropped her a message on our forums and let her know about it, so it's all good. -- Sekoia 18:47, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
