Overview
Your archetype is arguably the most important choice you make while creating a hero or a villain. It determines which powers are—and aren't—available for you to use during the entire lifetime of your character. The decision of which archetype to play should be made based on what type of philosophy you wish to use for your character.
City of Heroes Archetypes
When you first make a character, you may select one of five available archetypes.
Blaster
Controller
Defender
Scrapper
Tanker
After a hero character reaches level 50, two more archetypes called epic archetypes become available in that account.
City of Villains Archetypes
When you first make a character, you may select one of five available archetypes.
Corruptor
Dominator
Mastermind
Brute
Stalker
Starting with Issue 12, after a villain character reaches level 50, two more archetypes called epic archetypes will become available in that account.
Arachnos Soldier
Arachnos Widow
