Part 3: The Last Recruits
Mission Briefing
Are you familiar with Alec Parson? He worked for the Ministry of Information Criminal Investigation and Research in Praetoria. He's absolutely brilliant when it comes to all things technological.
His skills have only gotten better during the Praetorian War; it was with his help that Vanguard was able to take down large numbers of Clockwork. The MICIR was one of the first organizations to turn and help in the attack on Praetoria.
He may not be the strongest candidate in a fight, but he'll be able to help us with anything related to technology.
Parson is currently in a Longbow facility in Brickstown. He's been helping the organization develop their first Longbow Clockwork. Their goal is to put more robots to work to improve the quality of life in Primal Earth and to lower the number of human casualties in the war against Arachnos.
I believe he should be finishing up his work there. Go to the facility and speak with him about our initiative; with Parson's help, we could even track down that communication that we heard from the Council. Pendragon, Aurora, and Grant will go with you. I think it would be good for Parson to see what our current team looks like; I'm still working on the situation with White.
In the meantime, I'll be doing work on our last recruit. There's a bit of red tape around him, similar to Michael White, but I believe his skills as a soldier will prove useful to us.

- Pendragon: This is Arachnos? Let's see what they're made of.
During Battle with Arachnos:
- Aurora Pena: Arachnos... I'll need to find out more about them and their fortunatas.
- Grant Creston: They're good fighters, I'll give them that! A little bit above the DUST that I fought back in First Ward.
- Pendragon: I'm still not used to these Primal Earth groups... why are you all not focusing on the Hamidon?
- Grant Creston: I think I like Arachnos. There's no grey area when fighting them, at least from what I can see.
- Aurora Pena: I think I could get used to fighting alongside you all. Even a former member of the IDF.
- Pendragon: Desdemona cleansed me of my evil back in Night Ward. However, I still feel something odd, as if... it isn't fully gone.
- Aurora Pena: There was a time when Mother Mayhem actually did some rather just things. But it was all in the name of her own ego.
- Grant Creston: Hrm, they're stronger than DUST, but the DUST had plenty more tactics back in First Ward. I remember this one attack on the survivor compound...
- Pendragon: My brother, Bedwyr, would enjoy this battle! If only he could be here to see us in action.
- Grant Creston: I've had this IDF armor forever. It's seen more things than most people in First Ward could imagine.
- Pendragon: They have plenty of loyalty to this organization... do they think this Lord Recluse is a god?
- Aurora Pena: Robotic spiders, crab legs melded onto their soldiers... Arachnos is a truly frightening organization.
Upon Defeat:
- Pendragon: Not yet... am I not powerful enough?

Fortunata: Stay and take down Character. He / She has been a pain in our side for far too long.
Fire Tarantula: Red Widow planned this attack perfectly. I'm surprised Black Scorpion was willing to work with her.
Tarantula: I heard she's forming an alliance with him and Mako.
Bane Spider Commando: Keep an eye out for that new portal technology. We could use it for Recluse's plans.
Fire Tarantula: Hope it doesn't involve Praetoria. Did you hear what happened to that one operative who went in there? He was devoured by Hamidon!
Crab Spider Slicer: Something's up with Dr. Aeon ever since Vernon von Grun revealed he cracked the genetic code for the Devouring Earth.
Fortunata: I heard he might defect. Recluse wasn't happy with the amount of resources that Aeon put into that whole Architect program.

Tarantula: We should be trying to get Darrin Wade from Vanguard! Doesn't he have all of the knowledge of Rularuu?
Fortunata: I heard Recluse wants to strike a deal with Dream Doctor regarding Rularuu.
Fortunata: Some of the Webmasters were talking about their tour in Dark Astoria. I've never heard stories like that before.
Fire Tarantula: I'm just glad I wasn't chosen to go. I signed up to deal with heroes, not eldritch horrors.

Bane Spider Commando: Then delay him / her! We've got strict orders, Recluse needs Parson for his new plans.
Crab Spider Slicer: One of the Arbiters looked really out of it. What was his deal?
Bane Spider Commando: He was chosen to use the revamped empowerment machine. I don't think it went very well, especially now that the machine is gone.

Inside Sewers:
- Pendragon: Come friends, let's strike fear into the hearts of Arachnos, the fear that we know from Praetoria!
- Aurora Pena: I'll give Mayhem some credit, her madness has given me great power, and I'll unleash it upon these spider soldiers!
- Grant Creston: Think I just came up with an interesting strategy. Aurora, we'll have to talk about it afterwards.
Against Kraken:
- Aurora Pena: I've never seen anything like this before... and I've seen plenty, believe me!
- Pendragon: What in the world is that thing?
- Grant Creston: ... Huh.
Against Devouring Earth:
- Pendragon: No... this science has gone too far!
- Grant Creston: They're CONTROLLING the Devouring Earth?!
- Aurora Pena: What the... this is wrong... this is very wrong!

Debriefing
I knew I could count on you, Character. Alec Parson has agreed to join the New Praetorians as our technological expert. As you saw, Riptide is our final member.
He's an honorable soldier who was fighting for a dishonorable man. I've vouched on his behalf to the Paragon authorities and to Vanguard that if he was given a chance, Riptide could show everyone that there were good people within Cole's regime, people who genuinely wanted to help and who believed that innocent Praetorians were at risk.
Riptide was eager to get out of his cell and put in the people who deserved to be there.
