Phaeton: Paragon of Heroics

Phaeton, Fire/Devices Blaster

Background

In-Game History

Born the son of a mortal woman and the Greek god Apollo, Phaeton was mocked by his friends because they didn't believe in his godly heritage. Phaeton decided to make the trek to his father, who offered him anything he wished for to prove that he was truly the Sun god's child. "Give me the Sun to drive across the sky for a single day," said Phaeton. Apollo relented, knowing the child would fail, but also knowing that he could use the event as an example.

Phaeton, exactly as Apollo thought, was unable to drive the Sun's chariot properly, and caused great devastation across the world. On Mount Olympus, Zeus saw what was happening, and threw a thunderbolt at Phaeton, destroying the chariot and severely wounding the youth. Apollo picked the youth up and, admonishing him for such a grandiose request, offered him a choice--redemption or death. Choosing redemption, Phaeton was sent to study with Helios, the proper driver of the Sun, and Hephaestus, the god of metal work. After many years of understanding the principles of fire and machinations, Phaeton was informed that he would be spending his time in the city of heroes, Paragon City, where he would slowly train himself to think of others before all else, and to discover his modesty once again.

Real Life History

Phaeton is a character created in May of 2004 as a part of the supergroup Sanctum. As a part of the SG's efforts at creating the perfect team, I developed a Fire Blast / Devices Blaster, which was specifically designed to be balanced by the rest of the team.

In September of 2004, the team disbanded, citing real life problems. I resigned my City of Heroes account, and went on to play other games.

This past November, I rejoined the game and found my character stored on the servers (Justice, where all my characters are), still at level 15. Since then, he has grown to his current level, and is part of a group composed of Justice Radio players.

Ingame, I can be contacted at the Global Chat Handle "@Phaeton". If you are interested in teaming, please send a tell before sending the team request--I traditionally ignore blind invites.
