General Discussion about visibility of this promo card

Note: This is a discussion unique to this card (as far as I can tell) because the other promo cards are not duplicates of regular cards.

So I added the promo statesman image to the main Statesman card page (https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/COHCCG/Statesman) because I had no idea that there was a separate page for promo cards. As far as I can tell, the cards are identical, except for the source - is that correct? If that is correct, I have a question: what's the best way to link the two cards? It appears that my initial instinct, adding the promo States to the main card under the alternate versions section, was incorrect (which makes a certain amount of sense, since it is semantically different, even if the stats are the same). My other thought is to just link one to the other in the "see also" section, but in my head that just seems... weird, because, again, except for the picture, they appear to be identical, and it may lead people to wonder why two cards that are effectively the same are on different pages.

But I never played the CCG, so I don't have as nuanced a perspective, I suspect.

I think the only reason this card seems like it should get special treatment is because the image is different, despite being functionally identical to the normal card. This card was included with the City of Villains (Box Set) in October, 2005, in order to help promote the game (which wouldn't be released until January, 2006). Some other cards were being handed out at GenCon earlier that summer, but I don't know which ones they were, specifically. But there are actually three different Statesman cards when you include the demo version. Now, like all other demo cards, these were identical to the regular retail versions, but with different symbols in the copyright area. (Demo decks were often available at game shops.) However, the demo card images were not cross-posted to different articles because they were from different sources and for different purposes. One example of a card that did have an artwork change was Enhance Accuracy, but those are both listed in the same article because they were both available from the same source: at retail.
I hope that explains the difference. I think I'm rambling a bit. Blondeshell Sig.png talk / contribs 00:50, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

Not showing up in hero category?

As far as I can tell, this card should show up in this category: https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Category:CCG_Arena_Hero_Cards It does not, despite the actual page appearing to be properly set up for it to do so.

Categories for the CCG cards are auto-generated by the Infobox CCG template. They were set up to keep cards separated by their source: promo, demo, or retail. Only retail cards were set up to be broken out by card types (heroes, enhancements, etc.). The logic I used at the time was that most people (me?) were just going to care about the retail cards because those were essentially the only ones that would be bought, sold, or used for play. The use of the word "Arena" in the category you linked indicates that it specifically was part of the Arena set of cards that went to retail. If this card were to be included in a separate category by type, it should be "CCG Promo Hero Cards," which would make it be the only entry.
