Quarentine is a character made for City of Heroes, a superhero based MMORPG by Cryptic Studios.

Biography

In 1986, Alexei Kalashkov was born in England, to Marilyn and Mikhail Kalashkov. The Anglo-Russian couple was then forced to move to the USSR because of Mikhail's line of work: lumberman. Working for a lumber yard and steel mill near St. Petersburg, Mikhail was a hard working, loyal Russian. Marilyn was an English Sportsman, with profound skills in archery and running. One fatefull night in a nearbye square, the Kalashkovs were gunned down during a pro-Communist attack in St.Petersburg, in 2000. Sent to the Baltic Junior Science Retreat in Kalgorvsk, near Kalininggrad.

In the 2004 Summer Olympics, Alexei won the Gold Medal. When he returned to Russia, he was arrested for allegedly being a part of a staged lab accedent that lead to the death of his former science professor, two years earlier. Although Alexei denied this, the Russian police followed up with an arrest, much to the anger of the public. A break-out was staged in the undisclosed prison that Alexei was incarcerated at. A bomb was set off, and pieces of debris fell on Alexei, striking him and sending him into a coma. After he recovered, he had manifested electric powers, subconsiencly affecting the hospital's machines, allowing him to leave the hospital a week early.

In 2005, Alexei traveled to the USA. He settled down in Paragon City, Rhode Island, as an experimental sciences scientist for a joint project of Crey Industrial, Freedom Corps, and Protal Corp. Settling with his lab in the neighborhood called Eastgate, a month after he settled, an attack by the city's most dim-witted street gang, the Trolls, collapsed the middle section of Eastgate, forcing an explosion in Alexei's lab. Fortunatly, Alexei was out testing new equipment when this happened. With riots ensuing, Alexei retreated to the safe haven of Atlas Park, who's entrance was just West of his lab building.

Donning the armor from his lab, Alexei Kalashkov became Quarentine.[1]

Powers and Abilities

Alexei's foremost power is the ability to manifest excess bio-electric energy to immobilize, shock, debuff, and attack nearbye foes.

A lab suit that Alexei created allows him invulnribility, regeneration, and enhanced strength. Various gadgets integrated into the armor allow flight, recalling friends via teleportation, healing allies, channeling bio-electricity, and near-infinite storage capacity.

Alexei carries a Type-30 Bow, with special sights, wind restitance dampeners, and drawback aids. Alexei carries special wind resistant, Infinite Edge, power-arrows; these are normal arrows specially treated for little-to-no wind resistance. He also carries special arrows, such as Torch Arrows, Grenade Arrows, and Stun Arrows.[2]

Costumes

Alexei has had many different costumes, including the original armor, kilt/armor combonation, a winged armor version, Atomic Armor, and Alexei's business suit modified for heroics.

  • Original Armor- The Original armor consists of a chest piece, Atom gloves, and enhanced leg pieces. Alexei's hair was treated with chemicals that reacted with a special gas that turned it green, and formed a green mask across his eyes.
  • Kilt/Armor- The Kilt/Armor combo is just Alexei's original with a green and gold kilt, as well as no hair coloring, mask, and a Van Dyke beard.
  • Winged Armor- The Winged Armor is just like the Kilt/Armor version (see above), but with wings.
  • Atomic Armor- The Atomic Armor is what many heroes call the "Justice" Armor. It is this armor, but with gold highlights, Atomic symbols, and earphones. Also, in this version, Alexei has a clean beard.
  • Business Suit- Esentially Alexei's business suit, the suit had implants for flight, teleporting, and toughness. This costume is the only suit besides the Atomic Armor and Original Armor that has some sort of mask; this Suit has glasses that scrambles the eyes and facial features of the wearer. This suit previously held the slot of the Atomic Armor.
  • ExoSuit- Shedding his Atomic Armor, Alexei donned an ExoSuit provided by new items at Icon called ExoProto. Combined with Winged boots, Alexei is a site to be seen.
