A Pair of Broken Six Sided Dice

Alignment Mission

You find a pair of six sided dice, both missing one of their numbers. It looks like someone isn't going to have their dice for a tabletop game tonight. Just when you're about to toss the dice away, you notice that these dice actually link together to form some sort of necklace. On the inside of the dice are the initials, "J" and "M". What stands out more is that the dice reek of perfume from the Carnival of Shadows. You call up one of your contacts to see what you can find out...

Character, how's it going? Eh? Weird dice with initials in them? Come to think of it, I've heard about a recent kidnapping over there in Paragon. Happened to two kids named Jason and Mary, they're real big into that whole tabletop scene. Hold on, let me dig up some more information...

Huh. Well, that's too bad for them. Looks like the Carnies picked 'em up hoping to get a ransom out of Jason's dad. Turns out that his father is part of the Family, but he's not making any deals with the Carnies. According to this, the Carnies say they're going to make the girl one of their slaves and butcher the kid. Here's the address of the office they're supposed to be in, seems like the Carnies are carving a hideout for themselves. Just so you know, though, there doesn't look like there's gonna be any money involved in this.

It looks like these two innocent players of tabletop games have gotten themselvs in over their head, all because one of them has a father who works for the Family. If the Carnies were in this purely for the money, they'd have just try to cut a different deal, but it's clear to you that they're just trying to cause chaos wherever they can. It's unlikely that the Family could take care of the Carnival, which means if anyone's going to save those two, it's going to have to be you!

HERO: Save the Games from the Carnival

There's no money involved in this job, but the Carnival of Shadows are clearly showing how unprofessional they are regarding the whole hostage deal. You never kill off the hostages that quickly, that's just how you cross that line from interested in money to interested in destruction.

Someone's got to save those kids and show the Carnie how a true professional handles things.

  • Rescue the kidnapped gamers!

You're able to figure out the location of the building where the Carnies should be. You'll just need to find Jason and Mary and get them out of there, all while showing the Carnies that this is not the way you do business.

Unnecessary Solicitation

If you don't act fast, those two gamers will be turned into mindless zombies!

Mission Objective(s)

You see a woman sobbing uncontrollably as you enter. Is that Mary?

  • Rescue the Kidnapped Gamers
    • Speak with Mary
    • Destroy the crate of Carnie masks
    • Rescue Jason
    • Recover Jason's Soul

You've saved Jason and Mary, allowing them to continue their adventures in the realm of fantasy once more!

Debriefing

You leave the warehouse to be greeted by Jason and Mary, both of whom are holding two pieces of paper, asking for your autograph. They tell you that they're going to tell all their friends about what you did today and how you saved them. Jason takes a picture of your outfit and says that they're going to go cosplay as you at the next Super Con.
