Overview
In July, 2008, NCsoft merged City of Heroes and City of Villains into a single game, where previously they were standalone products. Now, no matter what version of retail code is used to create or upgrade an account, every account initially has access to twelve character slots per server, where before an account started with eight slots and only had twelve after applying a retail code for both sides of the game (or the Good Versus Evil Edition retail code).
As of Issue 12, additional slots are purchasable and each server has been expanded to allow up to 36 slots.
Assignable Slots
In addition to the 12 slots that come on each server, players may acquire and assign additional slots on a server-by-server basis, up to a total of 36 slots on any given server.
- 2 free slots were issued for players logging into their accounts for several weeks after Issue 12 went live.
- 1 free slot is granted every 12 months of Veteran Rewards
- As part of the in-game store, slots can be purchased as follows:
- 1 slot for $5.99
- 2 slots for $9.99 (approx. $4.99/slot)
- 5 slots for $19.99 (approx. $3.99/slot)
