Answer to Question 1
While holding "Page Up", rotate your camera view by holding down your left mouse button and moving the mouse left or right.
I think you can hold "Page Up" and use "Q" or "E" to do the same, but I've never tried and usually map over "Q" and "E" within about 10 seconds after creating new characters.
