Improved Monstrosities
Retcons usually have to do with the story, not mechanics of a class of NPCs changing... should this be kept? -- Agge (talk) 17:34, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- o.o yeah.. the monsters and bosses are stretching it a bit.. its kinda a grey area isn't it? I added them largely for filler.. I'd leave them at least in the overview because the initial change did make a big difference in how they are treated by the player base if not ingame official rank. - What if we rephrase the phrase in question to something like: "to the stature of an NPC (such as Frostfire, whose change in stature was represented by changing him from a boss to an Elite Boss)". That emphasizes a story change, with an accompanying gameplay ramification--which at least feels more like an example of retcon. I don't think it's a particularly good example, though. Nothing else in game really indicates a change in stature for Frostfire, does it? -- Sekoia 07:02, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- o.o well, he did used to just be a named boss.. he's been edited a couple times to be unique. Is it a Retcon?
The only actual retcon mentioned there is the Spider to Arachnos one. The 5th Column were taken over by the Council, not retroactively deleted. Indeed, they still exist. I think this page needs a big overhaul. - User:Ravenswing
- o.o they where 'taken over', but in doing so, all the story arcs involving them where retconned. Also, things mentioning them where retconned as well for quite awhile in game. In many ways, the 5th to council change was a textbook example of retconning. --Sleepykitty 22:12, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, for quite some time, the 5th Column was simply "the old organization" that had no name. You can find still evidence of that in a lot of the Council story arc souvenirs. --Eabrace 23:16, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- Because when someone takes over an organisation, they don't usually take over their operations and bases at all. Nope. Never mind. - User:Ravenswing
- Sure, but normally the new organization doesn't go out and remove all the records of the previous one, and change all the plaques, monuments and what not of them. --Sleepykitty 20:18, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
