Overview

In City of Heroes and City of Villains, there are a number of commands that can be typed on the chat command line to execute various functions. These are known as slash commands, because they begin with a slash (/). Slash commands often have underscores within the name to improve legibility, but they are not needed to actually take effect, i.e. /PowExec_Name, /Pow_Exec_Name, /P_o_w_E_x_e_c_n_a_m_e all perform the same way. Almost every action taken in the game is a slash command bound to a key. The number 1 is "pow_exec_slot 1", which executes the power in slot 1 of your power tray. Some slash commands, such as the movement commands, should not be called from the chatbox without taking care and knowing what will occur. The following list is a list of known slash commands, along with their command line format. See Category:Slash Commands as well.

Pet Commands

Unlike other commands that make use of Power names and Player names, these commands can have the power and names truncated. The 8 Stance and Action orders can easily be truncated to their first 3 letters. As can all the henchmen summoning powers. When a pet name is truncated, the order given will goto all pets that have the letters specified in their name.

Petcom
  /petcom commands Sends commands to your current pet.
  /petcom_all commands Sends commands to all pets.
  /petcom_name pet_name commands Sends commands to named pet.
  /petcom_pow power_name commands Sends commands to pets summoned by named power.
Petsay
  /petsay message Current pet says the message.
  /petsay_all message All pets say the message.
  /petsay_name pet_name message Named pet says the message.
  /petsay_pow power_name message Pets summoned by named power says the message.
Naming your pet
  /petrename name Rename your current pet.
  /petrename_name name Rename the named pet.
Target
  /pet_select integer Selects a pet from the list, starting with 0 at the top.
  /pet_select_name pet_name Selects the named pet.
Inspirations
  /inspexec_pet_name petname inspiration Gives an inspiration to the named pet.
  /inspexec_pet_target inspiration Gives an inspiration to the targeted pet.

Stances

  • PetCommand Stance Aggressive.png Aggressive - Attack everything in their Perception range, or that attacks you or any of your other pets.
  • PetCommand Stance Defensive.png Defensive - Retaliate to attacks made against you or any of your other pets.
  • PetCommand Stance Passive.png Passive - Will not attack unless specifically told to.

Actions

  • PetCommand Action Attack.png Attack - Attacks your currently selected target, regardless of Stance. Automatically switches to Follow after all nearby hostile targets are defeated.
  • PetCommand Action Follow.png Follow - Follow you.
  • PetCommand Action Stay.png Stay - Hold position. Will move a short distance from that spot if in Aggressive or Defensive mode and attacking.
  • PetCommand Action Goto.png Goto - Gives you a targeting reticule to select a spot on the ground. Pets continuously attempt to move to that spot. Similar rules to Stay.
  • PetCommand Action Dismiss.png Dismiss - Causes the pet(s) to disappear from the pet window. Henchmen and other summoned pets immediately despawn. Heavies and Turrets in Recluse's Victory hang around.

Conflict

  • PetCommand ConflictingCommand.png This icon is displayed in the pet window when two or more pets that fall under the same power are given different commands . This does not indicate an error. It is simply informational.

Privately sends the specified message to the player specified by name. If name is a character name, the message will fail unless the player is online. If name is a global name, the message will be delivered the next time that player is online. Note that the comma after name is required or the command will fail.

Gameplay commands

lfgset status: Sets your "looking for group" status. status is a parameter that indicates which status you wish to set and may be one of the following values. Setting the status to other values is undefined and may cause unexpected results.

0: Not looking
1: Looking for any
2: Looking for Patrol
4: Looking for Missions
8: Looking for Task Force
16: Looking for Trial
32: Looking for Arena

requestexitmission number: Leave the mission once it is completed. It requires a number argument, but the number doesn't seem to do anything. This command does not appear on the /CmdList.

Supergroup Commands

chan_Invite_sg channel_name rank: Invite your entire supergroup to a global chat channel. Only leaders may use this command. The rank parameter may be any of the ranks listed below.

0: Invite the entire supergroup (members, captains, and leaders).
1: Invite captains and leaders only.
2: Invite leaders only.

coalition_Cancel supergroup: Cancel coalition with a supergroup.

coalition_Invite or ci player: Invite players supergroup to join coalition.

coalition_MinTalkRank rank: Sets the minimum rank of members of a coalition supergroup who your supergroup can hear.

coalition_sg_MinTalkRank rank: Sets the minimum rank of members of your supergroup who can use coalition chat. Note: This command is currently non-functional.

canlook: Whether the player can use the mouse to look around

chan_mode channel_name options: Changes default access rights for new user who joins the channel. If you set -join, no one can join.

+send / -send: gives/removes user ability to send messages to channel
+operator / -operator: gives/removes operator status from another user in the channel

chan_motd channel_name message_text: Set the channel's Message Of The Day, which is sent to everyone that joins or logs into the channel

chan_send channel_name message_text: Send message to chat channel. You must be in the channel and have Send priviledges. (Also: send)

chan_user_mode player_global_handle options: Sets user permissions for specified user on channel. You must have operator status to set permissions.
