Overview

Respec = Respecification.
To change your power choices and slotting.

  • Respecs will NOT change your Archetype, Origin, or Primary and Secondary powersets.
  • Respecs WILL allow you to choose from new power pools, just as you would leveling normally.
  • During the respec, all currently slotted enhancements will become available to place in any power as well. Any unused enhancements will be sold back for Influence/Infamy, usually at typical sell back prices.
  • First pick powers as though you were leveling. Then pick slots as though you were leveling.

There are two ways to acquire a respec. The proper term is similar to "You have been awarded a respec"

  • Earn one from one of the Respec Trials. Completing a Trial after selecting a Respec as a reward will not allow you to select Respec again.
  • Be given one from a Holiday or other event, most often during or after an Issue is released.

Currently there are 3 earned Respecs in CoH, and 2 in CoV. (3rd respec trial for CoV should come in Issue 7)

Current limits on saving respecs:

  • If you earn it, it's yours. It will never go away.
  • Free respecs can theoretically be infinite, however 99.99% of players can only have 1 free respec at a time. Any new free respec overwrites the old.

Given the 3 earned and 1 free, you can have a total of 4 respecs saved up.

Respecs can be used in one of two ways depending on their type.

  • Type /respec in the chat box. Uses any free respecs available, otherwise directs you to Jack Wolfe in Galaxy City (or the CoV equivalent).
  • Visit Jacke Wolfe in Galaxy City (or CoV's equivalent). Uses any free or earned respec available. It is not documented whether he will default to earned ones or free ones.

Q and A

What is a repsec?

  • A proccess of selecting new powers and enhancement slots.

Where can I get one?

  • Earn it. Or be given one.

So I can become a Blaster or Controller or anything I want?

  • No. Your Archetype and Origin stay the same.

What about Electric instead of Archery?

  • Nope. Primary and Secondary powersets stay the same.

Well what does change?

  • The order in which you select powers from your Primary and Secondary. Even skip powers if wanted.
  • You can also select new Power Pools.

I'm level 50, I've completed all 3 trials and used those respecs, now my powers are borked. I have no free respecs and the next issue is 4 months away. HELP!

  • HAHA!
