A forum meme from the Defender Forum

"Empaths Suck" was an ironic post made by forumite BadStorm who proudly notes a level 50 Empath in her signature. It was made in one of the "Healer Threads" common in the Defender Forum. Part of a never ending debate on the value of heals, buffs, and blasts, the nature of Defenders in general and the nature of Empaths in particular.

BadStorm then repeated the same short two word post over and over again, to general amusement, particularly when someone took it seriously. It soon caught on as a catch phrase or meme to the point where it is sometimes abbreviated as merely "/badstorm".

What does it mean? It doesn't mean Empaths are bad. It might mean some Empaths are bad if played badly. It certainly means the Defender Forum has a strange sense of humor and a somewhat dirty mind.

It can be a Zen Koan in that contemplating how Empaths can suck and how Empaths cannot suck can lead you to wisdom about the true nature of the Defender Empathy power set.

If the children are all safely in bed, it can mean that Empaths engage in acts from which others derive great pleasure but from which they only benefit to the extent to which they enjoy giving that pleasure. That some find these acts humiliating and degrading, but others enjoy performing them and many enjoy receiving them. If you do not understand this analogy, you will when you are older.
