 He's one of the mission objectives and must be rescued, though you don't need to escort him out nor even that he survives the mission. During my mission, he spawned as a Pet of my level. Ironically, out of the three NPCs you must rescue (the others being [[Lt. Sefu Tendaji]] and [[Captain Dietrich]], who con as Elite Boss and Hero respectively, most likely due to a error), he was the one with the most Hit Points.
