The phenomenon of creating numerous [[alt]]s, usually for the purpose of experiencing firsthand the numerous [[powerset]]s available in [[City of Heroes]] and [[City of Villains]]. A player who does this can be said to be an '''altoholic'''. [[Altoholism]] may or may not have a detrimental effect on the frequency at which said alts gain [[level]]s.

[[Altoholism]] differs from creating 'filler' or 'dummy' characters in that these characters are intended to be played, rather than created and left alone.
