== Overview ==

Much like [[Easter Egg|Easter Eggs]], the "City of" franchise is filled with slang and references to outside material. Some times these take the name of a zone, or an issue update. Other times a contact will be a wink towards one of the Developers favorite shows or games. While these may seem similar to Easter Eggs, they're usually not hidden, just requiring knowledge of the outside material.

== Issues ==

It has long been believed that City of Heroes Issues are traditionally named after chapters in various books. However, Matt "Positron" Miller corrected this misconception in an [[City Scoop]] interview on September 21, 2007. [http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=9227196&an=0&page=0#Post9227196 He said], "The names of Issues are NOT chapters of novels. Never have been, never will be. The fact that the users have found novel chapter titles that match, or are similar to, our Issue names is a testament to the tenacity of our users. I won't say we haven't been amused by this, because we have, but we don't go out of our way to find a chapter title that matches our issue in theme and content. We name the issue something cool, that's it."

* Rescue Dr. Philo - The text states that the Engineer for UHF station 62 was kidnapped. The manager George reported him missing. This is a reference to the [[wikipedia:"Weird Al" Yankovic|"Weird Al" Yankovic]] movie [[wikipedia:UHF (film)|''UHF'']] Incidentally, when the doctor is led to the exit, he comments, "My work here is done", which is the same line the doctor uttered in his last scene in UHF.

* Rescue Mr. L. Jenkins - The text states that you must rescue an office worker "Mr. L. Jenkins". This is another reference to "World of Warcraft"'s Leeroy Jenkins.

* Rescue Betty Jo Bialaski - Betty Jo is a character in [[wikipedia:The Firesign Theatre|Firesign Theatre's]] "Nick Danger" skit. When rescued, she says, "Just call me Nancy, everyone does."
**This mission also appears as "Rescue Audrey Farber", an alias for Betty Jo Bialaski.
**Based on the skit, an additional mission might appear as "Rescue Melanie Haber", but this has not yet been attested.

* Rescue Dr. Frank N. Scott - When you reach the hostage, the following dialog happens:

*Retrieve the Oxygen Destroyer- The [[wikipedia:Oxygen destroyer|oxygen destroyer]] is the device that killed [[wikipedia:Godzilla|''Godzilla'']] in the 1954 movie.

* Rescue Jake Emmet - Jake Emmet is a computer game designer who, it is feared, may have made some super-powered beings mad with his latest computer game. This is an obvious reference to City of Heroes'/Villains' former lead designer [[Jack_Emmert|Jack Emmert]] ([[Statesman]]).

* Rescue Lois Watson - Lois Watson is expecting to be rescued by Unbelievable-Man, but "you'll do." The name Lois Watson is an amalgam of [[wikipedia:Lois Lane|Lois Lane]] and [[wikipedia:Mary Jane Watson|Mary Jane Watson]].

* Rescue Peter Kent - You find this hostage threatening his captors and making them very nervous. The name Peter Kent is an amalgam of [[wikipedia:Peter Parker|Peter Parker]] and [[wikipedia:Clark Kent|Clark Kent]].

* Rescue Jon "Booster" Rhodes - The description of this mission states that Jon Rhodes is the VP for Kord Industries. This is a Reference to [[wikipedia:War Machine|James Rhodes]], who works for Stark Industries in the [[wikipedia:Marvel Comics|Marvel Comics]] [[wikipedia:Iron Man|''Iron Man'']] series.
**Also, upon saving him from his captors he says: "Nice work. You took those guys down like some kinda war machine." which is another reference to James Rhodes and his alter ego, War Machine.

The tree-lined walkways meandered through the park and were often populated by couples taking romantic evening strolls. The Gaiman Amphitheatre showcased outdoor performances (including those by the acclaimed 'Paragon City Players').Turner Lake provided a lovely splash of cool blue water, while the nearby Bendis Lake House was popular among the crowds for their famous burgers.

The previous tranquility of the area has been shattered. Perez Park is now infested with many different villains-all with varying agendas. Not only has the area become a favored spot for the dark rituals performed by The Circle of Thorns, but Vahzilok, the Clockworks and others are often spotted there. The biggest problem the park has, however, is that it's become a hotbed of the gang wars in Paragon City.

Two groups of thugs, the Hellions and the Skulls, have focused their conflicts here. Both of these gangs are connected to more powerful organizations, but no one has been able to conclusively determine their benefactors. One thing's for certain, though; anyone caught in Perez Park at the wrong time is likely to get caught between these two vicious groups during one of their many skirmishes.

Location: The easiest way to find this badge is to first go to the Justice Avenger badge (see below). You will need to jump over the wall to enter the park once you get there or enter the park at the gate and stick very close to the wall as if you were following the road. You'll find the rustic boathouse on the edge of the water with a couple of docks jutting out. Walk along the dock to the door of the boathouse and the badge is right in front of it. This is the Everett Lake orange zone area.

Location: This is in the southern orange zone at the very border with the red zone. In this zone you'll easily find Everett Lake. There is a large island in it. Travel through the channel between the island and the main land. Entering from the south part of the channel is easier to find this badge. At the midpoint between the Everett Lake and Gaiman Woods markers, there is a battered statue half in the ground. This statue is mostly on its side and quite crumbled. It looks like a knight holding a sword. The badge is near this statue and the tree to the right of it. It is only a few feet out of the water.

Location: Start in Everett Lake at the channel between the large island of the orange zone and the main land of the red zone. Travel the waterway into the forest staying inside the border of the orange zone heading NE. You'll come to a square dock with 2 lamps on it which leads up to the main land. The dock can be covered in level 10 Clockwork.

Location: This is an easy badge to find because it's not inside the forest. When you enter the zone, travel along the road as far as you can to the SW. At the end is a 3-tier fountain. Jump in the bottom shelf of the fountain and the badge is under the water.
