== Re: Overview ==

There are a buttload of pages on the wiki without a section titled "Overview", so I'm not really sure where this guideline comes from. After your post on my talk page, I did look around for (and eventually managed to find) the [[Paragon Wiki:Article Guidelines|Article Guidelines]] page, but it wasn't an obvious find. And even then, it's a ginle sentence buried in a page of guidelines, with the only reference being a post from [[User:TonyV|TonyV]] on the Paragon Forums.

I hit Random Page a few times just now, and of the pages that weren't disambiguation pages, or tiny things that aren't really articles (such as the individual Emote pages), I found about a 1:1 ratio of pages with and without '''''<nowiki>== Overview ==</nowiki>'''''.

I guess my point is twofold:
# The guidelines aren't obviously found, at least in my experience. Since joining, I've been working off of common sense and what I see throughout the rest of the wiki.
# I don't understand the need or reason for this specific guideline, particularly when half the articles I look at don't follow it.

==Table==
I did a lot of cleanup on the table tonight. It was a little messy and confusing as it was and had numerous missing cells and errors. I also color-coded it much like the tables on [[Emotes]] are done, but I am not so good with Wiki markup and don't know how to define special tables like it's done there ("emote header", etc), so I did it cell-by-cell with basic wiki-supported HTML. The colors don't quite match the Emotes tables, I'm not sure if that's important or not. Anyway, if someone wants to re-redo it to be more consistent, by all means. I do think it's significantly more readable as-is than it was before, though. [[User:Draeth Darkstar|Draeth Darkstar]] 09:21, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
::The soft pastel colors used in other such areas are not [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors Named HTML Colors], and since the tables in most every other area of the wiki are templates pulled from somewhere that I do not know how to find, I can't see how they're done to replicate the method. ::I'm not sure if Wiki markup will allow Hex code colors or not. For example, to go to the Emote template, you would go to [[Template: Emote]]. You can also find templates quickly by visiting a page you know uses a particular template, clicking "edit" (or "view source" if you aren't logged in), and scrolling to the bottom of the page. There you will find a list of all the templates that are used by the page (either directly or by reference from one of the templates called on the page.) Hey...for those of us that are "color challenged" is there someone out there that can see the full color spectrum who is able to take the color palates from http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Colorchartall0sz.jpg and match them up to the bright and the dark color palate for the power customization screen? I'm not completely color blind, and I can tell that there is an obvious difference between the costume color chart, and the bright/dark color chart.

It would help if that person could assign the same grid number/coordinate that's on the costume chart for each color to the charts for the dark/bright power colors. That way those of us that are colortarded can look and say "oh I have color N5 selected as my pants color, so if my imps are also color N5 they will match". I realize that instead of having a MSExcel like grid whomever does this will have to actually plug the letter and the number into each color circle, but I think since the palates are so different from the main, it would make the most sense. The other option would to just use the same EXACT NAMES as are used on the main palate...though this would make it a little more difficult for the color challenged. (But still better than nothing!) Does this make sense? -detfrost1

:Before we get too far, there are a couple of matters which complicate this issue:
:* I'm not entirely certain that there's actually a 1:1 mapping between of all the colors in each customization palette and the color palette for costumes
:* There are multiple customization palettes (i.e. bright, dark, Earth Control color tintable, Earth Control lava/crystal, Ice Armor color tintable, etc.) and to really do this right, we'd have to hit all of them.
:Now, I'm not saying that this is something that won't ever happen, but it is something that's going to take quite a bit of time once it's started to get it completely finished. --[[User:Eabrace|Eabrace]] [[File:Healthbar notify phone.png|20px|link=User talk:Eabrace]] 21:59, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

I think doing the dark/bright first would help the most people since I think those are the most available color palates yes?
:Since the release of [[Issue 11]], we've seen some limited ability to customize powers, mostly benefiting [[Scrapper]]s ([[Stalker]]s) and [[Tanker]]s ([[Brute]]s) with regards to the appearence of the weapon that they carry and the color of the weapon. I have to wonder if this is a precursor to things to come. Personally, I'd like to see pet customization for [[Mastermind]]s as well.
:Is it possible to choose two colours which aren't so bright? My eyes, they burn! XD [[User:Sera404|Sera404]] 11:34, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
::The soft pastel colors used in other such areas are not [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_colors Named HTML Colors], and since the tables in most every other area of the wiki are templates pulled from somewhere that I do not know how to find, I can't see how they're done to replicate the method. If you want to change the color entries to a different HTML color, feel free, though it's pretty much either super bright or really dark, they're all bold picks.

::I'm not sure if Wiki markup will allow Hex code colors or not. Otherwise, if you can tell me how to find the templates for the table in [[Emotes]] or some other, similarly formatted part of the wiki, I will try to duplicate the behavior used there and make a Powers table. [[User:Draeth Darkstar|Draeth Darkstar]] 05:56, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

:::When you know the name of a template you're looking for, you can find it by adding "Template:" to the beginning of it. For example, to go to the Emote template, you would go to [[Template: Emote]]. You can also find templates quickly by visiting a page you know uses a particular template, clicking "edit" (or "view source" if you aren't logged in), and scrolling to the bottom of the page. There you will find a list of all the templates that are used by the page (either directly or by reference from one of the templates called on the page.) You can view any of those templates simply by clicking on the link in the template name.

:::Regarding color codes, wiki markup does allow use of hex codes. --[[User:Eabrace|Eabrace]] [[File:Healthbar notify phone.png|20px|link=User talk:Eabrace]] 06:11, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
::::Update: Finished! Palette table should be much easier to use now, and also easier on the eyes. The colors and basis for the template were pulled from [[Template:Emote]] so it should be consistent-looking too. Also re-added the by-archetype information in table form using my new found understanding for how wiki tables work. [[User:Draeth Darkstar|Draeth Darkstar]] 06:21, 28 September 2009 (UTC)
==Categories==
Re: Aggelakis edit: Looking the categories over, I'm thinking Gameplay and/or Costumes may be the most appropriate to add, since that's where Weapon Customization is? I actually put Definitions on it because that's what Powerset Proliferation has and it seemed logical by that example. ==Issue 16==
Since the announcement of Issue 16 has confirmed Power Customization, I cleaned up the overview of this article. I will be adding another section with more details shortly. THe Developer Quotes section could probably stand for some more recent material too, but I won't be touching that, other than to mark the existing quotes as outdated information. [[User:Draeth Darkstar|Draeth Darkstar]] 12:23, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
:Update: Actually going to move all the old quotes and the link to the (now outdated) Power Customization FAQ to a new Historical Information section.
:Update 2: Customizable Powers section completed. Checked over it myself a few times, please let me know of and/or correct any errors you find. [[User:Draeth Darkstar|Draeth Darkstar]] 14:05, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
:Considering that Weapon Customization works a bit differently, since it's changing the shape rather than the color of the FX or the animation, and how extensive the Weapon Customization article we already have is with all the powersets and pictures included, I'm not sure that trying to merge them would be wise just because of how much information we're talking about trying to organize clearly on one page. I think this article will grow quite a bit already since there will probably be cause for a series of galleries like the Weapon Customization's once we have access to take pictures of it. I do definitely agree that these articles should be associated in some meaningful manner though. [[User:Draeth Darkstar|Draeth Darkstar]] 21:22, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey...for those of us that are "color challenged" is there someone out there that can see the full color spectrum who is able to take the color palates from http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Colorchartall0sz.jpg and match them up to the bright and the dark color palate for the power customization screen? I'm not completely color blind, and I can tell that there is an obvious difference between the costume color chart, and the bright/dark color chart.

It would help if that person could assign the same number that's on the costume chart for each color to the charts for the dark/bright power colors. That way those of us that are colortarded can look and say "oh I have color 19 selected as my pants color, so if my imps are also color 19 they will match". Does this make sense? -detfrost1

{{otheruses4|1=the status effect|2=the sleep emote|3=Emotes}}

==Overview==

'''Sleep''' is a [[Status Effect]], like disorient, or knockback. An enemy under the affects of a sleep power will fall asleep. A player who is asleep is immobilized and unable to use any powers. Breakfree inspirations and [[Inherent Powers#Domination|domination]] can be used to escape. Taking damage or benefiting from a heal will also free a player from sleep. NPC enemies that fall asleep will remain that way until the effect wears off or they start taking damage.

Falling under the Sleep effect, even for a single tick, will detoggle all your powers.

==Magnitude, Resistance, Protection==

All status effects work the same way. The target has both Resistance and Protection. In order for the attack to take effect, it must have a big enough Magnitude to overcome the Protection. Once the Protection is overcome, the duration of the effect depends on the target's Resistance. Attacks can stack in order to overcome a target's Protection.

PVE: Minions have a Protection of 1. Lts are 2. Bosses are 4. [[Elite Boss]]es are 6. The [[Purple Triangles]] of Doom on an [[Archvillain]] or [[Hero]] add 50 while they are up.

PVP: Players have a Protection of 2. [[Scrapper]] and [[Tanker]] defenses add 16 to that number.

==Powers That Cause Sleep==
Confused [[critter]]s will use beneficial powers on targets they normally consider enemies and harmful powers on targets they normally consider allies. Confused critters do not actually switch sides, become pets or teammates, or become controllable in any way by the thing that Confused them. Confused critters technically remain enemies to player teams and can still be targeted and affected as such, even though they won't return fire while the Confusion lasts. Attacks made by Confused critters cause no [[aggro]].

Confusion does not shut off toggle powers.

== Confusion and Experience ==

An enemy defeated entirely by Confused critters is worth no [[experience]]. An enemy that's partially damaged by Confused critters is worth partial experience. However, the split is not perfectly proportional, like it is when multiple competing teams fight the same enemy. When a Confused critter damages another, only 1/4 of its damage counts toward "stealing" experience. The other 3/4 is removed from the target's maximum health before comparing how much damage everyone dealt to it.

:'''Example:''' If an enemy has 240 Health and you and a random passer-by each do 120 damage to it, you will get half the normal experience (120 / 240). However, if we replace that passer-by with a Confused enemy, experience is distributed as if the Confused helper only dealt 30 damage (1/4 of 120) and the target only had 150 Health to begin with (its real Health minus 3/4 of the confused damage, or 240 - (3/4 of 120)). Since you still dealt 120 damage, your portion of the XP will be 120 / 150, or 80%.

==Overview==

==Magnitude, Resistance, Protection==

== Overview ==

'''Confuse''' (or Confusion) is a [[Status Effect]]. An enemy under the affects of a Confuse power is unable to correctly distinguish friend from foe.

== Confusion and Experience ==

== Blind ==

Isn't Blind a Hold, not a Sleep?
[[User:Abyssal|Abyssal]] 19:40, 28 February 2007 (PST)

o.o some one call me?
<.< >.> actually, its both.. some powers are dual nature afterall, but its so pathetic a sleep that its only usually slotted for hold. o,o now of course, we need to argue why the Devs reversed hold and immobalize, when clearly if your immobalized, you can't move at all, like a hold does in the game, and if someone where 'held', you'd expect them to still be able to move a bit.. --[[User:Sleepykitty|Sleepy Kitty]] 21:49, 28 February 2007 (PST)

:The [http://coh.nofuture.org.uk/powersets/powers-power.php?cat=Controller_Control&set=Illusion_Control&pow=Blind City of Data] page lists it as a Hold/Sleep, and when a Carnie attacks me with it I see it as a Sleep, however it acts as a hold and only as a hold according to the power description. I guess a dev screwed a spreadsheet up... It takes Sleep enhancements but doesn't have an Sleep effect. Should ask a redname in the boards to confirm. -- [[User:Leandro|Leandro]] 01:18, 1 March 2007 (PST)

:: Blind does two things. The primary effect is that it applies a Mag 3 Hold to your target (with a 20% chance of an additional Mag 1 Hold). The secondary effect is that nearby foes (those within 2 feet) will put under a Mag 2 Sleep. However, since the radius of effect for the sleep is so small (two feet), you only very rarely see it happen. However, I can confirm that it does, in fact, happen. I've seen it on occasion on my illusion controller. (City of Data also confirms this, though it's confusing. Blind does two things: it Holds and it summons "Pets Blind". If you look under "Pet" for "Blind", you'll see that that "pet" casts a Sleep effect on enemies within 2 feet.) When Blind holds a target, the target will hold its head in agony with light flashing from its eyes. When Blind sleeps a target, the target will sway back and forth a bit with light flashing from its eyes, but won't hold its head in agony. The visual effects are similar, but not the same. -- [[User:Sekoia|Sekoia]] 02:02, 1 March 2007 (PST)
== Heals and Sleeps ==

Benefitting from a heal will free a player from sleep. I've seen this in action many, many times. I had heard at one point that it only works if the slept player benefits from the heal, though. If they're at full hit points, the heal won't benefit them, and thus they won't wake. Can anyone confirm/deny this for certain? I also have no idea if healing will wake a slept NPC. Anyone know? -- [[User:Sekoia|Sekoia]] 02:14, 1 March 2007 (PST)

>.> a slept player will wake from a heal even if their at max health, it might be a bug, but I think what the person who told you that was thinking where instances where the heal heals for 0 pnts, which happends with some scrapper powers, tank, and things like absorb pain. For a brief time, heals will be 0 to said person, thus, they don't benefit from them. Even if your at max health, your combat will still list it as "$target healed you 259 pnts of.." --[[User:Sleepykitty|Sleepy Kitty]] 02:58, 1 March 2007 (PST)

==Overview==

==Magnitude, Resistance, Protection==

==Overview==

==Magnitude, Resistance, Protection==

== Heals and Sleeps ==

== Heals and Sleeps ==
